Having Difficulties Curbing Your Hunger?

We’ve heard it all before…the way to lose weight is to exercise, keep moving, sleep and the list goes on.  But do you still suffer with cravings or have trouble curbing your hunger?

Here are some ways to curb the hunger…now you may be wondering – isn’t this all common sense?  Well, in fact it is.  But we also know how often we must be reminded.  Many have to be reminded quite often and until you continuously practice you will fall prey to the cravings.

Follow these simple steps:

Control your stress – we’ve heard this all before…stress is the #1 killer, but do we truly take all this into consideration?  You should, because stress is the major contributor to binge eating as well.  Don’t you recall the last time you were in a stressful situation?  The first thing we all turn to is comfort foods to help us relax.  Because of this comfort eating we are all suffering with weight related issues.  Instead of going through this vicious cycle, learn to control your stress.  Relax and breathe.  Many times the things we stress about are out of our control, so why stress?

Drink Water - sounds easy enough, right?  Think about this for a second.  If you are drinking water it will give you the ‘full sensation’ therefore making it less likely to overeat between meals.  Not only are you getting the health benefits of drinking water, but water will also help in losing weight.  Many experts recommend drinking one full glass of water before each meal.  The water will prevent binging or gorging to occur.

Frequent Eating – you may be thinking that you are trying to curb your hunger so why am I suggesting you eat more frequently?  The more frequently you eat small, well-rounded meals, the less often you will feel ‘hungry’.  It is recommended that you eat 4 to 6 small meals and snacks throughout the day.  This practice will keep your blood glucose levels regulated and will continually feed your body the fuel it needs to sustain itself.  If you are eating small meals throughout the day you will be less likely to crave the chocolate ice-cream or strawberry cheesecake.
